What a Wonderful Christmas!

This was a wonderful Christmas, not only because it was Katie's first and the first with the two girls, but because we got to spend with the family. First we had a traditional Puerto Rican feast Christmas Eve at my parents' house - a sena - complete with a whole roasted pig (the piggy was gutted and cleaned, but still had a few hairs stuck in his snout) and a ton of complimentary dishes like platanos, yuca, rice and beans, Puerto Rican crackers, relish and pasteles (which are not that great, unless you like mushy cornmeal - ick!). The whole gang was together - about 20 of us - and after eating we did our traditional White Elephant exchange. Fun!

Santa came to our house this year, so we hosted the whole fam came over first-thing Christmas morning to watch the girls open their gifts (Matt and both of our dads had to take apart Em's new dollhouse in order to get it into the house - the thing was too big to even get into the house - before putting it back together again until about 1:30am). I made a yummy breakfast casserole that actually turned out pretty good (if I do say so myself), coffee cake and we all munched and sipped on coffee, mimosas and Bloody Marys while the girls were busy. Em had a blast, and Katie, well, she had as much fun as any nearly five-month-olod can have.

Then we all met over at Matt's parents' house for another Christmas feast of ham, potatoes, green bean casserole and of course desserts. Man, how much can one person eat in 24 hours?! We took over the new karaoke machine and Em performed with Uncle Chuck and Cheri. Remind me again why we got that for her?!
