Katie's First Birthday

OK, so it's been a while since I last posted, I know. I hate using the excuse that times flies and gets away from you, but it is so true (especially the older we get). Nonetheless, the past few months have been busy, busy, busy, between celerbating Katie's first birthday on August 1, the Packers' preseason starting up and CHPH and Emma starting first grade.

First up, Katie's b-day. Hard to believe she is already one. We celebrated at Barry and Kathi's house (Matt's parents) so the kids could swim and play in the pool, and had burgers, dogs, adult beverages and of course cake. I have uploaded all of the pictures over the past couple months onto the Picasa site (link is at the right), but here are a few favorites.
Riding her new horse while wearing the "Birthday Princess" hat, the same one big sister Emma wore on her first birthday five years earlier.

Time for cake! We got Katie a mini cake so she could dig in and have fun, and boy did she ever!

Playing drums with Emma.

On August 6, Katie had tubes put in her ears at St. Luke's Hospital down in the Texas Medical Center. Dr. Moses, her ENT specialist, and his staff were wonderful, and of course Miss Trouble came through with flying colors. The night before the surgery Poppy, who has baptized and/or married practically everyone in our family, baptized her at my parents' house, with both of our parents as witnesses (we are doing the 'official' baptism at our church in October). With the tubes, Katie can't get submerged in water and needs to have ear plugs in anytime she's in water. Kinda of a pain, but no big deal and so far so good. It was amazing to see the change once the tubes were put in - for the first time in months she could actually hear! Thank you Dr. Moses!
