Again, too much time has passed since an update, so here goes:
Emma wrapped up first grade the first week in June and is now off to second. Hard to believe - time has just flown by. She got a slew of awards, including Math Scholastics and Reading, as she is an avid reader. For the fun awards, she was coined the "Next Apprentice" for her class, probably due to her (sometimes) bossiness and being the leader of the pack.
In early May our nephew, Brad, had his bar mitzvah so we celebrated the ceremony and of course the party. It was a great weekend, not only for Brad but many of Matt's family members came in from the East Coast for the festivities.
Matt with his Aunt Donna and Uncle Dick, and then the two of us all dressed up (we do clean up well, I must say!)...
The party was a luau theme at a nearby ranch, and the girls had a BLAST dancing, doing the hula hoop and hanging with all of Brad's friends.
The bar mitzvah was over Mother's Day weekend, and on Friday Em and her class treated us mommys to a pampering, where we got to wear homemade crowns, escorted to their desks all decorated with their hand-made keepsakes. So precious. Each child wrote a poem about why their mom was so great, and each got to read the poem to the entire class and moms. Em was so sweet!
With Sunday being Mother's Day and much of the family still in town, Barry and Kathi hosted a crawfish boil and the rest of the family clan at their house for fun in the pool and relaxation.
Chef Matt hauls in the batch of crawfish...
